This is where you <a href=\"https:\/\/allaboutberlin.com\/guides\/anmeldung-in-english-berlin\"><\/a>register your address.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Finanzamt<\/strong>: the tax office. The tax office (<em>Finanzamt<\/em>) is responsible for collecting taxes in Germany. When you start a business or become a freelancer in Germany, you must declare your business with them by filling the <em>Fragebogen zur steuerlichen Erfassung<\/em>. You can find the correct Finanzamt for your area <a href=\"https:\/\/www.berlin.de\/sen\/finanzen\/steuern\/finanzaemter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on this page<\/a>. Just enter your postal code in the search box.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Freiberufler<\/strong>: freelancer. In Germany, this title is reserved to specific professions, so not every freelancer is a <em>Freiberufler<\/em>. See below for more details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gewerbe<\/strong>: trade or business. Self-employed workers that are not <em>Freiberufler<\/em> must register as a <em>Gewerbe<\/em>.
